How long does the Texas defensive driving course take?
Our TDLR approved driving safety course is a self-paced online course that has six chapters and takes about six hours. You do not need to take the course all at once. You may log in and out as your schedule allows.
I enrolled but did not complete the course. Can I finish at another time?

When do I have to complete my Texas defensive driving course?
Your defensive driving due date will be set by the court. If you are unsure about when you need to have your completion certificate turned in, contact the court that issued your citation. We recommend that you complete the course at least a week before your due date to allow time to receive your document and deliver it to the court. How long does it take to get my completion certificate?
Per TDLR guidelines, we are required to mail your certificate of completion directly to you. It will come on special numbered and watermarked paper. It will be your responsibility to submit your certificate to the court that issued your citation. The amount of time it will take your certificate to arrive depends on the shipping option you choose. What happens if I lose my completion certificate?
I you have misplaced your completion certificate, please contact us anytime to request a duplicate certificate. Depending on the circumstances, you may need to pay a certificate-processing fee.
How do I get a certified copy of my Texas Driver Record?

What if my deadline to complete the TDLR approved driving safety course has passed?
Unfortunately, we cannot extend a student’s completion date. Our suggestion would be to contact the court and see if there is any way to get more time to complete defensive driving.
What happens if I fail the final? Can I take it again?

What is a student affidavit, and how do I print it?
To be eligible for our driver safety course, your identification must be verified through a third party database via your driver’s license, licenses plate and registration information. If your identity cannot be verified, you are required to send in a notarized student affidavit so our company can identify you as the person taking the course. Your need to submit a student affidavit will be indicated on your course account page. You can also print the affidavit from this page. Why do I need my vehicle registration to do this defensive driving online Texas course?
